I just bought a Volvo S60 and it has a bulb issue. How much would something like that cost to get looked at?

I just bought a Volvo S60. The front left turn signal keeps going out, but eventually comes back. Since it seems like it could be more of a wiring issue than a bulb issue, I want to get it looked at by someone other than myself.

ratphink120 asked:

I own a 1988 740 turbo volvo that runs great, but the lights are a lil screwy. The head lights work but tue dash lihjts wont, when the dimmer switch is turned the dash lights turn on but the head lights turn off. I know it’s the problem with the rheostat, but I don’t know how to fix it. If I need to replace it or just rewire it, i checked all the fuses and they all work. Any info would be nice.

China, to Stimulate Volvo\’s Growth

Saturday, March 8th, 2008
volvo
Kevin Anderson asked:

Volvo Cars is trying to establish greater global sales. To give the needed boost, Volvo is concentrating on China auto market. The automaker expects that the latter can give Volvo a significant lift to yield growth in global car market.

Fredrik Arp, Volvo’s chief executive officer said that China is the automaker’s ‘most exciting’ auto market around the globe. He added that Volvo’s growth in said nation will serve as a vital part of its global aim, which is to sell 600,000 vehicles per year starting this year until 2009. Arp added, “In the next five to 10 years, we believe that China will move up to second place in Volvo Cars’ sales chart.”

According to automotive sales reports, Volvo sold about 444,000 vehicles last year globally. In China, last year’s Volvo sales stood at 5,000 units. This year, in the month of July, Volvo has started the production of S40 compact sedan. The production is a joint venture of the automaker with Japan’s Mazda Motor and China’s Chang’an Motor in Chongqing Municipality. Said venture is under a technical licensing deal. Arp sees the business venture as “a big step” towards the goal of improving China sales.

The second generation Volvo S40, along with V40 and V50, were launched in 2004. S40 was based on Volvo P1 platform. Previously, the car is only built at the Volvo Cars factory in Ghent, Belgium. Now that the automaker has started with the venture, Volvo S40 performance parts can now be assembled in Volvo China plant.

Volvo Cars China claims that the company’s sales in the nation are anticipated to reach 9,000 vehicles this year. Said figure is 80 percent more from that of last year’s sales. Next year, the automaker expects to boost sales at the same rate or more of that anticipated this year.

Aside from S40, Volvo cars including all-new S80 large-sized sedan and the imported XC90 sport utility vehicle will be made available in China. Volvo S80, an executive car, was introduced to the auto market in 1999 as a replacement for Volvo 960/S90 sedan. The assembly of Volvo S80 parts was based on the EUCD platform. Currently, the car is the flagship model of the automaker.

Volvo XC90, on one hand, is a midsize luxury crossover SUV built at Volvo’s Torslanda plant in Sweden. Last year, new Volvo V8 engine was added to Volvo parts XC90. The new engine generates 311 horsepower and 325 ftlbf of torque. The car was updated for the 2007 model year. The new version debuted at the 2006 New York Auto Show.

Analysts said that premium cars like Volvo cars have huge growth potential in China. At present, wealthy population, which is the market of Volvo is expanding rapidly in said nation.

How do I pull the engine codes from my Volvo 850 R?

Saturday, March 8th, 2008
volvo
v8volvodude asked:

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 R sedan, and I am trying to figure out how to pull the engine codes for diagnostics of the vehicle. I know that it is OBDII compliant, so all I have to do is take it to a dealer or an autoparts store, but I would like to know myself where the plug is located for the OBDII reader. How do you pull the codes? Does all it take to pull the codes is a OBDII reader?

Volvo Parts for Better Rides

Thursday, March 6th, 2008
volvo
Evander Klum asked:

Volvo continues to be one of the leading suppliers of quality vehicles that seek to address various automotive needs. The people at Volvo have always gone all-out in the name of excellence. Then till now, they continue to strive in order to provide Volvo owners and enthusiasts with the best solution to their automotive needs. Urged by their drive for excellence, Volvo has already produced quite a number of automobile platforms and models designed and engineered exceptionally well. These automobiles are comprised of durable Volvo parts. Considering all these, it comes as surprise how truly delightful it is to drive a Volvo.

On the road, one gets to enjoy, and have a taste, of the fine engineering that influences the manufacture of each and every Volvo car. However, even so delightful a car may find it hard to survive if the roads prove to be too much of trial–potholed and no more than a rugged lane. In this case, one or two Volvo Parts may be damaged, either by road conditions or by road debris that happen to be on the road. Dings and scratches are also a consideration as well as internal engine problems like a climate control on the fizz or a brake hose with a leak. Even if it is one or the other, problems often happen on the road. However, with the many Volvo parts available in the market, one does not have to worry too much over the idea of restoring one’s Volvo to tip-top shape. One only has to replace some of the Volvo car parts in order to give back to the car a measure of its looks and performance.

Of course, while some Volvo car parts need only to be replaced once in while, there are other parts that require regular replacements. Due to the function they fulfill, some Volvo parts just naturally wear out over time. This is beyond one’s control. Volvo parts like brakes, filters, wheels as well as others need to be changed at regular intervals. One must also keep in mind to replace the engine, transmission and transmission parts, radiator, hoods, bumpers, wheels, clutch, steering wheels, brakes and brake parts, fuel tank, seats, window parts, etc. However, in trying to find a replacement part, one must remember to opt for what kind and model the part or parts have to match. There are Volvo replacement performance parts, Volvo aftermarket parts, Volvo factory parts, and Volvo OEM parts. Only a select few, however, may fit and match one’s car so choose with caution.

Volvo Strengthens V, Xc Ranges

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008
volvo
Glady Reign asked:

Volvo is set to unleash the newly discovered power of its V and XC ranges. The unraveling of the new Scandinavian power will be made at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March. In the said auto show, the automaker will present two all-new premium estate cars - the Volvo V70 and the Volvo XC70. To bolster the intensity, Volvo will also introduce the Volvo XC60 concept which is going to be a European premiere.

After an exclusive pre-show sneak preview in Geneva on Monday 5 March, the Volvo V70 and the Volvo XC70 will be introduced to the world on Tuesday 6 March. The Volvo press conference is scheduled right after the introduction of the estate cars. It will be graced by the automaker’s senior executives and the estate cars’ project teams.

The all-new Volvo V70 redefines the leadership of the automaker in the estate segment by adding more luxury, captivating style and refinement. The V70’s bunch of promises includes better handling, flexibility and versatility. The estate comes with 40-20-40 split folding rear seats, a wider opening tailgate and 60 liters of extra load space.

The 2007 Volvo V70 is the third model to use the moniker. The current model is an estate version of its predecessors. The estate shares same sheet metal with the second generation Volvo S80 however; it also uses different Volvo car parts that include grille and front bumper. The car is not treated as a direct replacement for the previous Volvo V70 because the current version is an estate that is engineered to rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series estate versions.

The All-new Volvo XC70, on the other hand, is designed to exude handsome ruggedness and to boost estate capabilities. The Volvo XC70 has an individual style that is mated to all-wheel drive technology and superior ground clearance that blends flexibility and practical features expected of a traditional estate car.

Prices for both the Volvo V70 and Volvo XC70 will be announced by the automaker this summer. The estates are scheduled to go on sale this September in the United Kingdom.

To elevate the revelation a notch higher and to keep the imaginative minds of enthusiasts flowing, Volvo will also introduce the Volvo XC60 concept. The car successfully debuted at this year’s North American International Auto Show in January. Said concept will now hit Europe.

The Volvo XC60 concept flaunts a charismatic aura that is unmistakably Volvos however it is further enhanced by a touch of feistiness that could be attributed to a coupe. The said concept is set to go on sale in spring next year in the United Kingdom.

The Volvo XC60’s distinctive styling features a glass roof, newly styled grille, new shifting mechanism, mechanical tail gate, 20-inch rims, and a larger brand symbol. The automaker is also set to assemble a version of the concept with proven gasoline- and diesel-burning engines. It will share auto technology with the upcoming generation of Land Rover Freelander.
