How To Find The Best Rates For Your Volvo Car Insurance

Friday, January 23rd, 2009
volvo
Rudy Van Lancker asked:

In trying to find any type of car insurance, it is always best to first call your existing broker or insurance company and then to query other companies by researching on the internet and reading related websites. The procedure is no different for Volvo car insurance.

Assuming the Volvo car owner has an established driving history and previous insurance, it should not be too difficult to obtain Volvo car insurance. And if the customer is a first time car insurance buyer, then holding a home insurance policy will help to get a small discount.

Volvos, in general, tend to be family oriented vehicles. This point will place the car in a different insurance classification than for instance sports cars or other high performance vehicles. Therefore, Volvo car insurance premiums should be lower than higher end luxury brands.

Indeed, Volvo owners have the same enthusiasm as Harley Davidson motorcycle riders. They both love their vehicles and actually join groups to talk about their purchases. This is an added advantage when shopping for Volvo car insurance because larger clubs and organizations are able to negotiate discounted pricing from insurers. Large membership numbers make attractive potential customers to the Volvo car insurance companies. By providing stated and agreed upon savings, the insurance company is able to attract more qualified inquiries.

Another way to save money on Volvo car insurance is buy a model that is a year older. For example, if the new cars are available for purchase but the dealership still has older models on the lot for the present or past year, it might be cheaper both in the purchase price of the car and the Volvo car insurance premium to buy the older version.

Security equipment such as anti-theft alarms and steering wheel locks also combine with other discounts to reduce the Volvo car insurance rate. Using the car for personal driving and non-commercial uses is less expensive than if the vehicle is a business car. And do not forget to compare deductibles when shopping around. If there is a substantial savings between five hundred and one thousand dollar deductibles, it might be wiser to take the discount, opting for the higher deductible.

One point of which a Volvo owner should be careful, especially with the station wagon model, do not make it sound like you are operating the vehicle for commercial purposes. For example, you do not want to sound like you transport cargos for your job or profit and when taking the kiddies to soccer, just because you have a large group, you are not a taxi service. Although you definitely need the right amount of coverage and personal protection in the event of an accident, at the same time, there is no reason to pay for needless coverage.

Finally, in order to continue with a premium rate for your Volvo car insurance, maintain excellent driving habits and enforce rules inside the vehicle. Do not allow children to travel without proper seat carriers, do not let pets ride unrestrained, and make sure all adults wear seat belts. Should an accident occur, aside from the most important point of keeping everyone safe, you want to protect your good driving standards and anticipate more discounts when you renew your Volvo car insurance.

Sleek Volvo Xc60: Bioethanol-ready

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
volvo
Kenneth Mckinley asked:

Volvo XC60 will be making its world debut next month at the Detroit motor show. Earlier, Volvo has given a preview of what its newest crossover would look like. But XC60 is not just about improving the looks of Volvo’s crossovers. It is also about high-tech innovations coupled with the use of environment-friendly fuel. Volvo flaunts that the new crossover is bioethanol ready.

“The XC60 Concept features a number of innovations that indicate how our cars will look in a few years time. It is time to once and for all forget about boxy Volvos,” said Steve Mattin, Volvo’s design director. “Instead, we will make our Scandinavian design heritage more emotional and radiant by adding sculptured, exciting shapes and innovative features.” He continued, “With more expressive and emotive shapes, if you can recognize a Volvo from 50m today, I want to get to the point where you will instantly spot a Volvo from twice that distance in the future.”

XC60 boasts its Volvo fuel system which covers the six-cylinder, 3.2-litre bio-ethanol engine. Said engine offers forceful performance with 265bhp and 340 Nm of torque. It also offers with 80 percent reduced carbon dioxide emissions than engine running on petrol. “We believe that the FlexiFuel also has great potential for larger engine sizes and we are planning to expand our range of bio-ethanol-powered engines in the coming years,” said Magnus Jonsson, senior vice president, Research & Development at Volvo Cars.

Bioethanol can be produced by corn, wheat, and sugarcane or cellulose fermentation process. They grow steadily in Europe. As a fact, there are about 23 plants producing ethanol in said territory and the number is expected to increase in time. Within the European Union, approximately 720 million gallons of ethanol are produced every year. In the United States, there are 101 bioethanol plants with a capacity of 4.8 billion gallons annually. Further, there are over 1,000 filling stations for E85 in the United States.

The engine of the crossover was formerly introduced along with XC90 and Volvo S80 parts. It is optimized for E85 - 85 percent bio-ethanol and 15 percent petrol. The fuel economy when using E85 reduces to 19.2 mpg. This is because ethanol’s energy content is 40 percent lower than that of petrol.

Bioethanol fuel is renewable. “One single renewable fuel will not be able to replace today’s fossil fuels, and the range of alternative fuels will probably be far wider in the future. Many different fuels and technologies are therefore being developed in parallel. Ethanol reduces dependency on fossil fuels and Volvo’s FlexiFuel programme makes a vital contribution to our strategy of environmental sustainability,” said Fredrik Arp, president and CEO of Volvo Cars.

Maintaining Your Volvo S70 And V70

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
volvo
Patrick Kolodziejek asked:

All cars need maintaining but if you really want your Volvo s70 or Volvo v70 to last you a lifetime, then you will need to take extra special care of your car. A well maintained vehicle can last for tens of thousands of miles if you. Proper maintenance is the best thing you can do for your investment.

Your Volvo needs regular check-ups and maintenance. Regular oil changes at a reputable dealer or company will often ensure that not only do you have plenty of oil in your car, but many will check your other fluid levels as well. As the car ages, they will also alert you to any Volvo s70 or Volvo v70 parts you may need. These regular check-ups are recommended at every 3,000 miles.

In order to maintain safe and reliable transportation, it is also vital that you have your tires rotated and balanced every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. With all the safety features that a Volvo has it can’t do anything to protect you should you have a blow out. By rotating your tires on a regular basis you will be ensuring that there is equal wear on all of the tires. Tires develop wear patterns over a certain period of time. If the tires are not regularly rotated then the tread will wear off on in certain areas, which may make it difficult for you to get the proper traction. This can be dangerous during wet weather. They may also wear thin in areas, which may lead to a blowout.

When you do get to a point in which you need to replace parts on your Volvo, you are better off using factory Volvo s70 parts or Volvo v70 parts. Factory equipment parts are made specifically for Volvos and ensure that each replacement part is just as safe as the original. If you hear any funny noises coming from your car, listen to it and have them checked out. This is often the first sign that something needs tweaked or repaired.

Maintaining your car’s appearance will keep your Volvo looking great for the thousands of miles you plan to drive it. It is recommended that your Volvo is washed regularly and waxed at least twice per year. Even if you are hard on your car, it doesn’t have to look like it.

Regular maintenance of your Volvo will keep it looking great and running great for the many miles to come.

racerski2 asked:

I have a 1985 Volvo 740 GLE non-turbo. Whenever I try and use the breaks when the car is cold the plastic connecter between the break booster and the vacuum hose blows of the booster. If I let the car warm up 1st before I drive it the hose doesn’t blow off. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Steal a Look at Volvo’s Upcoming All-new C30

Thursday, January 15th, 2009
volvo
Kenneth Mckinley asked:

The new Volvo C30, which is the latest car of Volvo Car Corporation, will be officially released this September at the prestigious Paris Motor Show. In preparation for said grand event, Volvo has recently released the official photos of its new car.

Volvo C30’s design is evocative of the C30 Design Concept which was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show early this year. Said car retains the sporty and aggressive character of Volvo. It also features an exceptional frameless glass tailgate, solid stance and the broad shoulders that have become Volvo’s hallmark.

According to Fredrik Arp, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, “the new C30 is an ambitious new car for Volvo. It is a car that aims for a group of young singles, or couples, with intense urban lifestyles. These people prioritize excitement in design and driving characteristics, and this car should suit their varied tastes perfectly.”

“The new Volvo C30 plays an important role in our push towards a volume of 600,000 cars a year. We are broadening our model program to make it possible for new, younger customers with an intense, urban lifestyle to choose a Volvo with the right appeal as early as possible,” Arp added.

In addition, Steve Mattin, design director of Volvo noted, “the C30 has plenty of muscles in a sporty and compact package. Anyone who recalls the Volvo SCC (Safety Concept Car) or the classic P1800ES will recognize the exclusive and convenient rear tailgate. The distinctive tail lamps ensure that no one will be uncertain about which car they are following.”

All-new Volvo C30, which is the smallest in Volvo’s model range, has 218 horsepower to the front wheels. It is powered by a turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine that produces 236 pound-feet of torque. It also has four sport bucket seats positioned comfortably inside the car, 160-watt stereo system, and other Volvo car parts and accessories that imply Volvo’s excellence and style.

Volvo’s Subsidiary Renault Trucks Signs Distribution Agreement With Nissan Motor

Friday, January 9th, 2009
volvo
James Russell asked:

In the news: AB Volvo’s subsidiary Renault Trucks has signed a distribution agreement covering the Renault Maxity light duty vehicle with the manufacturer Nissan Motor. It was in February 2006 when an agreement was signed regarding the distribution.

The Renault Maxity is a cab-over-engine light duty vehicle that is produced by Nissan Motor at its plant in Spain. Renault Trucks dealers will begin selling Maxity trucks in Marcg this year. The Maxity was developed and manufactured for Renault Trucks by Nissan Motor and is sold under Renault Trucks’ own identity. Renault Maxity completes Renault Trucks’ existing range of light trucks which includes Renault Master and Renault Macott. These trucks are produced in a range of weight classes from 2.8 to 4.5 tons with three engine alternatives.

The Volvo Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses and construction equipment, drive systems for marine and industrial applications, aerospace components and services. The Group also provides complete solutions for financing services. The Volvo Group has at least 82,000 people employed, has production facilities in twenty-five countries and sells their products in more than 185 markets. Annual sales of the Volvo Group reach more than twenty billion euro. The Volvo Group is a publicly-held company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo shares are listed on the stock exchanges in Stockholm and on NASDAQ in the US.

The Volvo Group is also different from the Volvo Cars since it deals more in manufacturing automobiles and auto parts like Volvo antenna. The Volvo Cars has been owned by Ford Motor Company since 1999.

Volvo is Latin for “I roll” or “I turn.” The name Volvo was originally registered in May 1911 as a separate company within SKF AB and as a registered trademark with the intention to be used for a special series of ball bearing, but this idea was only used for a short period of time and SKF decided to use the SKF as trademark instead for all of its bearing products. The company Volvo AB didn’t have any activities until August 10, 1928 when SKF Sales Manager Assar Gabrielsson and Engineer Gustav Larson have set up the car-manufacturing business Volvo AB within the SKF Group.

Volvo AB was finally introduced at the Stockholm stock exchange in 1935 and SKF then decided to sell its hares in the company. It was in April 14, 1927 that the first series of Volvo automobiles called the ‘ÖV4′ (Öppen vagn (Open wagon)-4 cylinders) were produced. Only 996 cars were produced from 1927-1929. The ‘ÖV4′ was replaced by model PV651 in April 1929. The first successful car produced by Volvo was the PV444 that was introduced in September 1944.

First Glance at Volvo C30

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009
volvo
Kevin Anderson asked:

Volvo C30 was first shown during the Detroit show of 2006. Since its debut, car enthusiasts were interested in Volvo’s smallest car. Brace yourselves as the Volvo will show the production version of the two door hatch at the Paris auto show this coming September. Although the Volvo Company has not yet planned the US sales, they claim that the car will be available in US by next year.

According to Volvo’s president and CEO Fredrick Arp, the latest breed of Volvo Cars is scientifically and precisely made for young singles with an active and social lifestyle. The company is expecting to sell 65,000 units of C30s every year. Volvo Cars North America pointed out that the company is still deciding whether the car should be sent to US.

C30 is Volvo’s smallest car, and it is one inch and a half smaller than the Audi A3. With a length of 167 inches long, C30 is 8.5 inches shorter than Volvo S40. Quality and comfort is also a must for Volvo C30. It features a four-seater folding rear bucket seat located at the inboard for a more spacious and superior windshield visibility.

It uses the same 2.5-liter, turbocharged five-cylinder engine Volvo used in both S40/V50 and C70. This four wheel drive car develops 218 hp and 236 lb ft of torque from the engine used.

This car is also made for safety and security. It has a Blind Spot Information System that tells the driver that another vehicle is in its blind spot. Like other cars, it also has safety belt pretensioners, side airbags as well as whiplash protection system. Riders will not only feel relaxed but they will also feel free from harm at the same time.

Volvo C30 auto parts may not be available on the market today, but these car parts will be accessible soon. But still, other Volvo parts for previous models like Volvo 940 parts and Volvo 960 parts are widely available on the market.

To keep you updated with the latest news about Volvo C30, you can log on to Volvo’s official site for news and updates. Reading car magazines and journal will also be a great help. Keep posted for more information.
