In the news: Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) has recently presented oversized checks to three charities who participated in last month’s Volvo S80 Holiday Gift Wrap program. The organizations awarded were the Shelter Our Sisters ($5,000), American Cancer Society ($9,127.42) for their work at the Garden State Plaza in New Jersey, and Merrick Kiwanis Foundation ($15,793) for its work at Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, New York.

Michelle Andryshak, Linda L. Nicholas, Renee Scharoff and Susan Helsinger accepted the donations in behalf of their respective charities at the VCNA regional office in Rockleigh, New Jersey. The Volvo S80 Holiday Gift Wrap Program is organized and sponsored by Volvo Cars at selected malls during the holiday season. This program provides shoppers the chance to have their gifts wrapped for free while they shopped.

All the proceeds of the said program were matched dollar for dollar by VCNA and were later on presented in the form of an oversized check to the three chosen charities recently which was witnessed by Volvo employees in attendance.

The Shelter Our Sisters, American Cancer Society, and the Merrick Kiwanis Foundation were among the six nonprofit organizations that were given donations by the VCNA across the nation. A total of $62,244.42 was distributed to agencies in California, New Jersey and New York. These agencies were chosen since they reflect the commitments reflected by Volvo’s core values and sense of social responsibility.

The Shelter Our Sisters is a charitable institution that focuses on assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence. This charitable institution provides victims with transitional housing, support and other services that focused on safety, empowerment and self-sufficiency. The American Cancer Society on the other hand is focused in eliminating cancer as a major health problem by means of research, education, advocacy and service. The Merrick Kiwanis Foundation has a vision of changing the world once child and one community at a time.

Key duplicating places can’t make one because it is an odd shape and has a microchip. And the Volvo dealer wants $300. Yikes!

Taking the Volvo C70 for a Spin

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Kenneth Mckinley asked:

Europe’s automotive industry is currently experiencing a new kind of phenomenon: the popularity of coupe-convertible vehicles which are much more known as C+C vehicles. You see, this phenomenon is not only blazing in the mentioned continent but it is also becoming quite rampant in other parts of the world. And now, the C+C phenomenon is slowly creeping towards North America. It would not be a great surprise though for C+C vehicles offer its owners comfort during various seasons, whether it be during the high and humid summer days or even during the cold wintry nights.

The Volvo C70 is one vehicle that belongs to this group and it does make use of the really popular C1 platform that is also used by other vehicles like the Volvo S40 and even the Mazda3. Volvo, which is also the manufacturer of the Volvo 122 parts, says that the Volvo C70 is actually the brainchild of designer John Kinsley. Kinsley may not be that popular but he is one of the top people behind coachbuilder Pininfarina. And if you do know Pininfarina, then you certainly do know that it is also behind the great and famous vehicles like the Ferrari Testarossa, the Ferrari F40, the Ferrari Enzo, a number of Maserati vehicles, Fiat vehicles, and even Peugeots. So it would not be surprising that the Volvo C70 is a breathtaking one at that.

Even if you do have the top of the Volvo C70 up or down, you really would find the vehicle to be quite breathtaking. Experts in the field even declare that the vehicle does have quite little imperfections and the proportions of the vehicle have really been well thought out. You would also find the vehicle’s front and back overhangs to have been made just the right size. And they sure do complement the flowing nature that the Volvo C70 has.

But if you think that this vehicle might not bear the Volvo look that you have been looking for, then you should need not worry for despite the Volvo C70 being a vehicle that is quite different from the usual Volvo kind, this vehicle still has the snub nose that Volvo vehicles have. Plus, the taillights and the shoulders of the vehicle still are very Volvo.

Curtains Down For The Volvo C30

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Kevin Anderson asked:

“The new Volvo C30 is a cool car. A car that aims for a group of young singles, or couples, with an intense urban lifestyle.”

These were the words given out by Fredrik Arp. Arp is actually the president and the chief executive officer of Volvo Cars. And he is talking about the sporty Volvo C30. The Volvo C30 looks sporty and performs like a sports vehicle. Though it only holds two doors, it has got four seats in its interior. Although the production of this vehicle would be starting by the end of this year, the Volvo C30 would be actually sent out to the motoring public come the following year, 2007.

Arp further expresses, “These people (those who live an intense urban lifestyle) prioritize excitement in design and driving characteristics, and this car is designed to suit their taste and lifestyle.” Just like how Volvo V70 dashboard parts perfect fit all V70s, the Volvo C30 would be the car for those who live the urban life to the fullest.

If you are interested to meet the Volvo C30 firsthand, you can rush to the Paris Motor Show which would be happening this December. After all, everybody would not be able to see just what kind of power and what kind of design this car has. And being able to see it upfront and in the flesh would be something worth the long wait.

According to Volvo, they are targeting a production of 65,000 units of the Volvo C30 in a year. They are also expecting a huge amount of buyers of this vehicle to hail from the continent of Europe. Those who have already set sight on the Volvo C30 concept vehicle which was shown off at the Detroit Motor Show early this year would find not a lot of changes to the production version of the Volvo C30.
