its about 3000 miles round trip and although the car is in good shape something is bound to happen.i do have AAA,but would like to have some basics on hand.i don’t work on cars so i’m at a loss.its.my first volvo and i know they need a special mechanic so maybe i should include something that would never cross my mind?suggestions appreciated.or any tips on anything else that you found useful on a long trip i may not have thought of.thanks

I just bought a 99 Volvo V70 wagon. The hatch lift mechanism is barely holding. Unlike taditional hatchbacks, ther are no visible hydraulics. I assume there are small hydraulics under the interior panels? Springs?

This car has been great, reliable, dependable, etc. It’s a ‘92 240 sedan and it has 160,000 miles on it. Over the last four years my son has been driving it and lately he has been working on me to get rid of it and get him a different car. Granted, it has had some isues, but nothing major as far as the big items. I currently am facing having to pay about $1000 to repair a rear oil leak, plus a problem with the way that air and gasoline are mixing . Apparently, this mixing problem is causing the gas mileage to be very poor. Are there any mechanics out there with Volvo experience that can give me some advice. I would prefer not to get a different car, however I will if this car becomes too much of a burden.

I really want to get an 87′ stick shift BMW..but my parents argue that its not going to be as safe as this 86′ standard volvo i also had my eye on. Are they pretty much equal in stability? (in theory and asuming both cars have passed inspection and have a clean carfax report)
