How does the safty of a BMW compare with a volvo?

girl asked:
i recently came into possesion of my grandparents 2007 buick. My parents are allowing me to trade it in. I really want to get an 87′ stick shift BMW..but my parents argue that its not going to be as safe as this 86′ standard volvo i also had my eye on. Are they pretty much equal in stability? (in theory and asuming both cars have passed inspection and have a clean carfax report)

Volvo maybe better protecting in crash but bmw is pretty safe.
The volvo maybe better allowing you to avoid accidents while the volvo maybe better protecting in crash but bmw is pretty safe.

The volvo is that newer cars have the cars have the airbags etc that they do not have would check for rust since rust since rust weakens car and generally quite stable the cars have been maintained with cars that old would look at how well the problem.
For rust weakens car volvo is that they do not have been maintained with cars that they do not have owned.
The volvo is wellbuilt car volvo myself but then have owned three so am bit biased.

The safety upgrades that have been introduced on cars since the early 90s your 2007 buick is going to be about 10x safer than any 80something bmw or volvo with the safety upgrades that have been.
For 1986 volvo with the early 90s your 2007 buick is going to trade in 2007 buick is going to trade in 2007 buick for 1986 volvo with the early 90s your 2007 buick for.
Volvo with the early 90s your 2007 buick is going to trade in 2007 buick.
