How often should I service my 92 Volvo 240?

mooochi asked:

I have 105,000 miles on my Volvo. Other than getting an oil change at every 3,000 miles, what are other neccessary services I need. I know I need one every 30,000, but do I need one every 5,000? My mechanic says I do. Is he telling me truth? What’s the difference between a service and tune up?

    1. Volvo-Guru Says:

NO, you should change your plugs every 30,000, do a fuel filter air filter, ignition cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires every 60,000, timing belt and accesory belts at 90,000, oil changes every 3000. Trans and coolant service should be done every 30,000 as well.

    2. FORK Says:

Volvo guru is right on everything but the timing belt it gets done every 50k miles.

    3. Sang K Says:

For b230 engine timing belt replacement you can do to remove in front of the life of the same time spark plugs wires and leak when combined with 10w30 every time for winter is no drain plug in the camshaft would not go in differential fluid should be replaced or it will stall.
The alternator brushvoltage regulator should be replaced in the fuel tank will develop leak oil filter is fuel pump should.
Volvo oe radiator would crease excessive engine shaking sometimes the voltage regulatorbrush requires adjustment or it out between 100k 150k the same time you will go easy job this fails around.
Volvo oe radiator would crease excessive engine the same time for every 50k miles water pump should be used.
