volvo penta engine hard start cuts off but will start an hr later?

1988 volvo penta boat motor hard start but after running will start fine rest of day. Till yesterday it shut down. Points and cap are good, not sure about gas pump. the filter has little gas in it even when running. I pulled the rubber hose off carb and cranked but no gas. it aslso has a metal gas line to carb. ?

      Sounds like low fuel pressure. It will allow the engine to start but will not provide enough line pressure to keep the fuel from boiling once the engine gets hot. This is called vapor lock. once the injection/fuel cools and returns to a liquid state the engine will start again until it heats up again.

      Means your looking at a fuel pump…..:(
